Legal Writing
Christopher Enright
This text describes the task of legal writing. It does so in two
phases:
#
General Technique
It describes a general technique for technical
writing. Specific requirements for legal writing are blended
on to this general technique. One of the key ideas for legal
writing is that the overall structure of the text is often
determined by various models for working with law. The
rationale is that the method for performing the task becomes
the structure for describing the task. These models are more
fully explained by another text by the author: Christopher
Enright (2008) Legal Method.
#
Specific Tasks
The book describes how to write a textbook, a
judgment of a court (dealing with issues of fact, law or
discretion and ex tempore judgments), opinions and
answers to problems questions.
